In the spirit of fostering collaboration across units and divisions, we're extremely pleased to announce a new major event: the first UChicago "Digital Technologies Expo", to be held in the Logan Center on Friday, November 12 from 3-5:30pm.
This year's Expo will focus on "Digital Technologies for Humanists" showcasing existing projects as well as support services for faculty and students working in—and at the intersection of—the humanities, the social sciences, and digital and computational methods. It will feature lightning talks by representatives from the Digital Studies Program, our Library's Center for Digital Scholarship, Humanities Computing, the RCC (HPC and GIS), the MADD Center, the Visual Resources Center, Academic Tech (IT Services for digital pedagogy), OCHRE and a number of other research projects and units, with breaks built in to allow attendees to pursue informal conversations and discuss projects with potential collaborators. We're delighted that members of the Humanities Division's Digital Studies Oversight Board will be on hand as well to help answer questions and provide high-level advice, expertise and guidance.
Registration is not required but is highly encouraged. This event will take place in person; we hope to record the talks, but at present there is no option for virtual attendance. We'd like to please ask you to post it in your common areas and circulate it to any and all who would be interested in attending.
