Biography
Cang Kaiyan is PH.D candidate in Art Studies (enrolled in 2024) at the School of Arts, Southeast University. His research focuses on Comparative Art Studies and Art Narratology. During his undergraduate and master's studies, he concentrated on the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese art resources in contemporary cinematic art. His recent research focuses intensively on the spatial narrative of Chinese mural tombs.
In 2025, he received a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council (CSC). In September of the same year, he began a visiting student at the Center for the Art of East Asia, University of Chicago for 1 year.
