Photography and East Asian Art, edited by Chelsea Foxwell and Wu Hung, has been published by the CAEA and Art Media Resources and is available to order from Paragon Book Gallery, Chicago. The volume’s authors examine photography’s profound impact on East Asian art and visual culture in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Photographic reproductions of art and architecture resulted in the canonization of famous masterworks and stimulated the growth of the art market. Photography became an art medium in itself. Photographs reflected changing geopolitical landscapes, shaped social and commercial life, and expanded the mass media with modern technologies of journalism.
