2008-2009 Postdoctoral Scholar Description
The Center for the Art of East Asia and Department of Art History at the University of Chicago invite applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Scholar beginning September 2008.
The University seeks an outstanding scholar in East Asian art history who will further his/her own research. The holder of this position is required 1) to be in residence; 2) to participate in regular colloquia and workshops in the program; and 3) to conduct research in a stated field of concentration under the mentorship of a faculty member. The position could include a teaching opportunity, but this will be decided at a later date.
The position carries a $32,000 salary, a travel and research budget of $3,000, and it is benefits eligible. Applicants must have received their degree by June of 2008 and not earlier than September of 2003.

1) A project proposal including statement of research and teaching interests
2) A curriculum vita with a list of publications
3) Selected writing samples, including a chapter of the dissertation
4) The dissertation table of contents and abstract
5) The completed Postdoctoral Scholar Supplemental Data Form (this can also be found on the Center website at http://caea.uchicago.edu/postdoc.htm)
6) References—letters of recommendation from three individuals knowledgeable about the work of the applicant. (These letters may be sent separately or electronically to the Center.)
Applications received by March 1, 2008, will be given highest priority. Expectation is that the award will be announced on approximately April 15, 2008.
